Termites above your head, eating your roof, and you just don’t know
This video shows how termites will travel up into your roof and then select the most desirable timbers to eat first. Interestingly, these termites were eating 80-year-old hardwood, new radiata pine and a eucalyptus timber lintel. They were grazing the full Buffett!
Sadly, there were some serious structural issues as the termites had eaten a ’lintel’ (large piece of timber that spans over doors, windows and hallways). The cost to replace and repair is going to be high as fixing damaged timbers in a roof is always difficult.
As you know, not many people get up into your roof. So, what you don’t see, you don’t know what is happening. And this could be happening up in your roof.
