It’s not often that you get a call to treat a boat for termites, especially a 100ft Launch. But we were asked to inspect and treat an infestation that came apparent in the Bow
when the launch was in dry-dock while having a major revamp. You might ask how did the termites infest a boat that was surrounded by water? We can only guess that the boat was infested by Alates (winged termites) that found fresh water down in the bowels of the boat and were able to become established. As all the hull and framing was constructed with timber, the termites had able timbers to feed on.
The only treatment solution that would give a guarantee of eradication was to install an Above Ground bait station.
