Difference between termites & black ants

Many homeowners get confused when trying to identifying the difference between black ants and termites. In fact, people mistakenly refer to termites as “white ants”.

It’s understandable, they sort of look the same. Have six legs, antennas and operate within a colony. But they are not the same insect. They are completely different in body shape and behaviour.

Termite life cycle

Termites are remarkable insects that live in large, highly organised colonies made up of distinct castes, each with a specific role and function. Every colony begins with a queen and a reproductive male, whose sole purpose is to reproduce and expand the nest.

From this single pair, a colony can grow rapidly – multiplying into hundreds of thousands of termites within just a few years. This rapid growth is what makes early detection and professional management so important.
